I have bred and owned Dachshunds (Miniature Long and Smooth and now Standard Smooth) since 1974 first under the Longjohn prefix and presently under Thomashenry. Our Dachshunds have been Best in Show winners and Best In Specialty show winners and have placed number one in the breed and in the top five many times  . We bred and own the only Miniature Longhaired Dachshund to win Reserve Best In Show in Canada. We pursue Earthdog titles on our Dachshunds. We have produced many top winning BIS GSP’s as well as the youngest German Shorthair Pointer to finish in the USA.

I have also owned and/or bred top five ranking multi- BIS , BISS Pembroke Welsh Corgi’s and a BIS Miniature Poodle . I  bred multi- BIS winning Siberian Huskies , have owned Chows in the past and currently Labrador Retrievers. I am a grooming salon owner by trade and handled professionally for 25 years. I am licensed by the CKC to judge all Hound breeds, Herding breeds and am on permit for half of the Working breeds. I have judged in Canada, the US and Australia.

I developed an early interest in purebred dogs, having grown up with Irish Sellers. which my Father bred and trained for Field work. We also had a Bulldog, American Cocker Spaniel Schipperkes. In 1941 obtained my first Toy Poodle, started showing, and became hooked on the sport. By 1978 I went back to my first love, Irish Setters, producing BIS & BISS winning dogs. In 1982 we added an English Cocker Spaniel to the household along with the above breeds and remain active exhibiting and breeding ECS. I have also bred BISS English Cocker Spaniels.

I have judged Specialty shows for Irish Setters, Poodles, American Cockers, Gordon Setters as well as English Cocker Spaniels. I am a Life member of the CKC, having served on several committees, also remain active in four all breed clubs.

Currently licensed to judge All breeds Professionally, I am a retired RN, with interests ( asides form my dogs) in sports, reading, and gardening

I started exhibiting dogs as a junior in 1974, showing standard poodles, miniature poodles and afghan hounds for my parents. In 1975 I left home and lived/worked at a grooming shop and a kennel that bred poodles. From that point on I was hooked.

Over the past 30 years I have bred and shown standard poodles under the prefix Diplomat. As a breeder/owner/handler I have finished multiple American Canadian Champions, as well as achieved many Best in Show and Group wins.  I have also competed in obedience trials putting CD’s and CDX’s on my dogs.

In 1987 I met my husband (Sandy) Russel Fletcher and for the next 10 years we exhibited our own dogs as well as handled for many other breeders.  We have also bred and exhibited pure bred Hereford cattle.

I bought my first Whippet in 1970 when I was sixteen and started showing dogs.  Over 35 years I have bred multiple Champions, Group winners and Best in Show Whippets.  I have also achieved Best in Show wins on Toy and Standard Manchester Terriers, Basenjis, and Bouviers des Flandres.  In 1983 I imported a Toy Manchester from the USA; I showed her to the number one Toy in Canada for 1985 and 1986 .

In 1987 I met my wife Tempest Deptuch and we bred standard poodles together. I handled full time for the next 10 years as well as exhibiting our own dogs.  We also have bred and exhibited pure bred Hereford cattle.

Gloria Geringer

My life in purebred dogs began in 1963 with parti-color American Cocker Spaniels .My first dog came
from Maribeau Kennels which was near where I was raised in Detroit, Michigan.  I showed many cockers to their championship that carried the Maribeau prefix before breeding on my own under Lancer. Besides cockers, in the 70’s, I began showing and breeding Pointers also to American and Canadian Championships.  I then spent many years as an AKC licensed handler and became involved with many more breeds. I began judging in 1988, no longer handled and closed my breeding program.

I have been a member of our local kennel club since 1973 serving in many capacities.  I have served as a mentor for American Cockers for the American Spaniel Club Judges Education Committee at the National show, as a presenter of seminars for several judges’ groups and group seminars besides individual mentoring in many breeds.  I participated in our local government Animal Control Officers Certification Academy by giving a day long program on Breed Identification. In 2005, I contributed several months of volunteer time in the care of rescued animals at Louisiana State University after Hurricane Katrina. For this, I was recognized at Westminster Kennel Club Show in NYC in Feb 2006.

I have had the honor of judging my own National, the American Spaniel Club several times, the latest being  Jan 2010.  I have had the privilege of judging specialties for my own breed in Australia, England, Estonia, Ireland, Japan and Spain. Also have judged numerous other breed National Specialty shows and at all breed shows in the majority of the states in the US including Alaska.

My overseas assignments have included: Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, England, Estonia, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Macau, Mexico, New Zealand, Russia,  Slovenia,  Spain, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand and Venezuela, several of these countries multiple times.

In my private life, my husband and I have a home on four landscaped acres about 80 miles west of New Orleans where we enjoy our four retired mini-longhaired dachshunds and an African Grey parrot.
I attended Louisiana State University and am a retired accountant/auditor from the State government..

I feel judging is an honor and a privilege with a tremendous responsibility to the breed and to the exhibitor.
I am an approved judge under AKC to judge all Sporting, Hound, Non Sporting, Toys, 18Terrier breeds Boxers and Best In Show. The appropriate Groups/Breeds are reciprocal for FCI Group 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10; ANKC Groups 1, 3, 4, 7 and BIS.

She has earned titles in obedience and rally with both breeds. And she has been fortunate to have had Cavaliers that have placed in the top 5 cavaliers in Canada.

Kim has been busy over the years with her involvement with the Cavalier Club of Canada & the English Springer Spaniel Club of Canada, the Manitoba Sporting Dog Club, the CDJA and is in her last year as president of the Mid West Cavalier club. Her passion for the preservation of purebred dogs has led her to be elected as CKC director for Manitoba.
Kim is honoured to be asked to judge the Prairie Toy Specialty.

Kenneth M McDermott

This year marks 54 years of involvement in the sport of pure-bred dogs which years have covered being an Ass’t Handler to the late, great Terrierman, Seth H. Campbell, then being a breeder-owner-handler of Wire Fox Terriers, Skye Terriers and Brussels Griffons , to being a licensed professional handler who showed dogs of 47 different breeds, to becoming a licensed judge in 1978. Currently that license is for Dachshunds, Salukis, Scottish Deerhounds, Whippets, all Terrier breeds and the Group, all Toy breeds and the Group,  Boston Terriers, Dalmatians, French Bulldogs, Lhasa Apsos, Poodles, Australian Shepherds, Collies, both Corgis  and Best in Show.

A marriage in its’ 40th year to Joan Elizabeth Redden ended in Feb. 2004 with her passing.  She was a grand lady, my trusted confidant, my one true love and my best friend.  We were blessed with a son, Curtis, who is now the Father of the pride of the family,  granddaughters, Breanna and Lacey Rose.

Outside of show dogs there is a very long and deep interest in birding (or bird watching if you please), plus fishing and general interests in nature and the outdoors. Limiting the number of judging assignments each year strictly to thirty shows allows for balance in these many areas of involvement.

Being retired from IBM after 30 years of involvement in the computer industry offers one great flexibility and has allowed for judging assignments in 41 States,  7 Canadian Provinces, Mexico, England, Ireland and Wales.  Other assignments have been proffered in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, The Dominican Republic, Taiwan, Beijing, Shanghai, Tailand, Jakarta Indonesia and four South American countries.

Highlights of a judging career which has spanned 30 years are many but for a Terrierman the twenty-four assignments at Montgomery County, including the 1987 Best In Show assignment (and with three more Nationals already contracted) plus the eleven Westminster assignments which have included judging the Terrier Group in 1986 and 1996 and the Toy Group in 2005, plus two years of assignments at the newly resurrected Morris & Essex KC and the 1st and 5th AKC-Eukanuba Invitationals are the most cherished. A singular great honor was being a nominee in 2005 and winner in 2006 of DOGS IN REVIEW magazines’  Judge of the Year!   Still there can be no higher honor bestowed upon a judge than to be invited to judge a National Specialty and in this regard I have been humbled and highly honored to have judged the National Specialties for 20 Terrier breeds(some several times), the Poodle Club of America and 7 Toys and I happily look forward to the future where I am to judge several more.  What a GREAT sport we have!

Tom Perret

Tom Perret and his wife Arlene acquired their first Boxer in 1955. This pet Boxer led them into a life with Boxers under the Pinebrook banner. In 1967 they purchased a plain brindle bitch for breeding, Oliver’s Happy Talk, and she produced their first two Champions, Ch. Pinebrook’s Radiation and Ch. Pinebrook’s Radiance. Radiation, a reverse brindle, finished at thirteen months of age and became an American Boxer Club Sire of Merit with 13 AKC Champions and 6 Obedience Title holders to his credit.

Tom and Arlene have finished 59 champions either bred or owned by us. Their Champion Pinebrook’s Added Attraction won Best Senior Puppy at the ABC 1980 Futurity. In 1991 Pinebrook’s Forever Amber, a plain fawn, garnered the ABC Award for Top producing Bitch becoming an ABC Dam of Merit. Later Pinebrook’s Temptation joined her in becoming an ABC Dam of Merit.  Ch. Pinebrook’s Innuendo became an ABC Sire of Merit and produced Ch. Kimber-D Pinebrook Dusty Road who finished at 11 months and three weeks later went Best In Show at the American Boxer Club, May 1995 National Specialty. Ch. Pinebrook’s Bolero had the honor of becoming a champion all from the Bred By Exhibitor class and was awarded the prestige Charlotte Brayshaw memorial award in 2000. Ch. Pinebrook’s You Must Loved Me was ABC Top Producing Bitch in 2005 and became a Dam of Merit also in 2005 Ch. Jennifer Root

Born and raised in Napa California, Jennifer has been in the breed since 1981. She has been married to her husband Paul, just slightly longer…28 years to be exact.

She has shown dogs under the kennel name of Rivendell in Conformation, Obedience, and Herding venues. During that time, she has done well in finishing 20 plus Champions of Record (most all bred), has 10 ROM bitches (8 bred), 2 ROM males (both bred), and put Herding titles on our last 18 Conformation Champions. She believes in titles on both ends of the dog. That shows how wonderful and versatile the breed can be. They must be able to do the work.

She has judged Point shows and Futurities in Canada as well as the US. She has a keen eye for the good ones as many of her pointed winners and Futurity/Maturity selections have gone on to great things in their careers. Her idea of judging is finding the “Total Dog”, but the “Total Dog” that has quality movement, temperament, and one that has the “Look of Eagles” requested by the Standard. That job is easier than not when you have  the eye possessed by Jennifer.

Paul Root

I bought my 1st GSD in the early 1970’s and did some obedience with him. In 1981, Jenn and I got our 1st Show Dog from Arelee…Russ & Beryl Eshom. That same year we joined Diablo Valley GSDC and the GSDC of America. I am a 2 times past President & VP of DVGSDC and a perennial Board Member. I have served the GSDCA as a committee member on the Regional Club Committee and the Public Education Committee. I have retired as the “Weird Stranger” at the Nationals after a 15-year stint. Occasionally I am requested to do “my thing” for other clubs. It certainly has given me an excellent perception of correct temperament and that has been very useful in all areas of the breed. I achieved judging status in 1990 and have been happily judging ever since. I have pointed many CAN & AM CH’s, Grand Victors and Grand Victrix’s…Selects in both countries, too.

Our kennel name is Rivendell. We have been very fortunate in our tenure and have been quite successful in Conformation and Obedience. We are also involved in Herding and have put Herding Titles on our last 18 Specials with many going well past Tested into Trialing. We strongly believe in titles on both ends of our dogs whether they are Herding, Obedience, or another working venue.

I served 2 terms on the GSDC of A Board of Directors. I am…and have been for over 25 years…involved in Animal Legislative issues, Responsible Pet Ownership Education, and preserving our rights to own and breed our wonderful dogs. I have worked tirelessly for our Breed and our Parent Club and will continue to do so for the rest of my life.

Glen Stark

Glen’s love of purebred dogs began over 50 years ago when he began showing German Shepherds owned by his Father. While these Shepherds were not intended to be show dogs Glen persisted and put Canadian Championship titles on 3 dogs until his junior hockey career took priority.

While playing hockey in Europe in the early 70’s Glen fell in love with the Belgian Tervuren, the breed for which he would become known for breeding and showing for the next 25 years under the kennel name “Gemfire”.

Upon returning to Canada Glen sought out and purchased a Belgian Tervuren from a U.S. Breeder who best represented the Tervurens he saw in Europe and the rest, as they say, is history.  Glen bred over 60 Champions with both Canadian and U.S. titles in both Conformation and Obedience.

In 1986 Glen had the honour of winning the Herding Group in Canada’s prestigious “Show of Shows” and winning Herding Group finalist in the U.S.A. Tournament of Champions.
Glen has professionally shown many other breeds throughout his career in all 7 Groups including Scottish Terriers, Shetland Sheepdogs, Rottweilers, Cairn Terriers, Golden Retrievers, Labrador Retrievers, Poodles, Cavaliers, Dandies, Bouviers and many others. In addition, he taught handling classes for over 25 years.

Glen started his judging career in 2004 and currently licensed CKC judge for Groups 3&7 and on permit for last half of group 4. For the last 10 years he has bred Shetland Sheepdogs with his wife Cheryl Pike under kennel name “MacLaren”.

Glen is a past President of the Belgian Shepherd Club of Canada and the Kawartha kennel Club. He currently belongs to the Canadian Shetland Sheepdog Association, Canadian Dog Judges Association and serves as president of the Dominion Collie and Shetland Sheepdog Association.
